Which South African beach is the better one? - beach home plans

Between Durban and Cape Town, which you think are the best beaches and everything with life on the beach? I intend to return home in January next year (2007) and Diesel Dragon Girl want to visit, but actually he wants to spend most of my time (2 of 3 days on the beach). I spend most of my vacation in Cape Town (one month). You think it's a good idea, or I go to the beaches of Cape Town?
The reason I ask because I have to plan and develop for a further 3 days in Durba.
